Waiting For Repairs

A Poem About Needing to Rebuild

I have a faulty cable leading into my soul

It is frayed and cracked

the plug lifelessly falls out

I fiddle with it sometimes

Thinking I could get it to stay

To connect back in and re-energize

But loneliness drains my reserves

Fighting darkness comes at such a high price

I shut down instead

And rest on the shelf

Waiting to come back alive

Rebuilding the energy that comes from faith

It takes so much longer than before

I think my battery needs replaced

For the time between charges grows so short

Maybe it’s an overload

too many windows open at once

Constantly searching

Trying to connect

This model needs an upgrade

A repair to his heart

A new screen for those cracks

From being dropped so hard.

But hope is programmed deep

I know I can be rebuilt

My techs they will hold me together

Until my developer restores my drive

And connects me back to the love I lost.
